Two Fairfield Harbour Residents Recognized For Excellence With Awards From CAI-NC
North Carolina Chapter Of Community Associations Institute Names Larry Knapp And Joe Schulties As Board Member Of Distinction And Volunteer Of The Year

NEW BERN, N.C., Oct. 9, 2013 – Fairfield Harbour, a residential boating and golf community located 15 minutes from historic New Bern, has announced that two of its residents received awards from the Community Associations Institute’s North Carolina Chapter (CAI-NC) for outstanding excellence. Larry Knapp, president of the Fairfield Harbour Board of Directors, was recognized as one of the two North Carolina 2013 Board Members of Distinction, and Joe Schulties, Fairfield Harbour resident, was recognized as  the 2013 Volunteer of the Year.
Knapp began serving on the board of directors in 2008 when he was appointed to the office of secretary. The following year, he was elected director and served as the board’s vice president. In 2010, Knapp was elected the board president and was re-elected to the same position in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Through his tremendous dedication to the community and persistence to promote harmony within the community, he is recognized as an outstanding leader who fosters growth and quality throughout Fairfield Harbour.

A five-year resident of Fairfield Harbour, Schulties has volunteered many hours on numerous committees and assisted with dozens of projects, which have all led to positive and lasting improvements for the community. Through his work with the audiovisual system user manual in the activity and community centers, the Beacon newsletter network, Craven County’s 300th anniversary, events to honor veterans and the Engineering Assistance Committee, Schulties gives a great deal of his time and effort to the community proactively.
Located on more than 2,800 platted lots, Fairfield Harbour consists of more than 1,500 privately-owned single family homes, as well as condominiums, townhomes and timeshares. Established in 1975, the community is home to more than 3,000 on-site residents who participate in a wide range of activities, volunteer opportunities and social networks available through Fairfield Harbour.

Fairfield Harbour, managed by CAS, Inc., was also awarded the 2013 CAI-NC Community of the Year award and became the first and only community to be recognized for two consecutive years.
