Growing a Pinwheels Garden in Farfield Harbour

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we can play a part in promoting the social and emotional well being of children and families in communities throughout the United State.

The Pinwheels for Prevention® campaign provides a unique opportunity for all of us, individuals and organization alike, to take action by learning more about prevention supporting child and family friendly policies, and services, and volunteering at the local, state, and national levels.

Growing a Community Pinwheel Gardening.  The pinwheel is the new symbol of child abuse and neglect prevention, symbolizing the stable, healthy childhood all children deserve.  Pinwheels and pinwheel gardens help us create awareness of the role we as adults have in ensuring children’s healthy development and growth.  Displaying a pinwheel garden will draw attention to the needs of all children and their families highlight resources available, share best practices for prevention and explore what individuals can do to help.

In FFH, a Child Abuse Prevention Banner will be mounted in Broad Creek Road. The owners at Neuse Realty are supporting this worthy cause and PINWHEELS are available for a small contribution: 1 for $2, 2 for $5, and 5 for $10. PINWHEELS can be placed at the Banner or in your own yard to show your support for Children in our community. Donations raised will go to Promise Place, a non-profit organization, in New Bern which promotes healing for children and adults affected by sexual abuse and violence through therapeutic intervention and advocacy.  Promise Place facilitates community change through outreach, education, and collaboration.
