On Thursday, October 12, Promise Place sponsored the annual Salute to Women in the Military Luncheon at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center. This tradition began in 1987, started by Bee Mayo nd Jean Nelson, to honor the women who have served in the past and those that are currently serving in the military.
All proceeds from the luncheon are donated to Promise Place, the only sexual assault resource center serving Craven, Jones, and Pamlico counties. Promise Place is a 501(c) 3 located in New Bern which provides advocacy and trauma-focused therapy for child, adolescent, and adult survivors of sexual assault, along with outreach and education to our community around the issue of sexual violence.
This years head table floral arrangements were provided by Joy Harsen, Co-Owner of Neuse Realty, one of the 2017 Salute to the Military table sponsors.
